CCCS System Office is hiring a Student Success Specialist to join our Workforce Development team. In this position you’ll be responsible for leading learner outreach, recruitment, retention, completion, and work-based learning placement efforts. The primary goal of this position’s grant-funded project is to recruit, enroll, retain, and place at least 360 individuals who are underemployed or unemployed, at least 17 years old, and face barriers to employment such as lack of a bachelor’s degree. You’ll be the first point of contact for these current and prospective learners. CCCS offers generous time off, excellent benefits, and flexible work environments. Duties Include:

  • Conducting, evaluating, and improving outreach and retention efforts for learners.
  • Analyzing success rates of existing retention efforts. You’ll then research new retention strategies based on organizational priorities and current academic.
  • Coordinating outreach efforts with partner community colleges by creating outreach schedules, adjusting schedules as needed to align with college outreach, and coordinating messaging to align with college protocols.
  • Developing processes and bridging connections to college partners for next step conversations regarding program offerings and matriculation. You’ll also suggest collaboration and support activities between CCCS programs and System colleges.
  • Maintaining a caseload of approximately 150 –200 students at a time that are part of the program cohorts, prioritizing services to a diverse population of online learners whose needs and interests vary.
  • Coordinating and conducting focused student support services, including advising, progress review, cohort gatherings, creation and distribution of resource materials, workshops related to job search strategies and resume writing, and any other activities that support student development, retention and job placement.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two years of related professional experience working with postsecondary learners in a coaching, retention services, advising, or mentoring capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree. A combination of experience and education, such as 2 additional years’ experience and an associate degree in a relevant field, may substitute for the degree.

  • Skilled in coaching and advising students, with particular emphasis on coaching diverse populations of adult learners, especially online.
  • Practiced working with students in a distance learning environment, including communicating via email, telephone, text messaging, and instant messaging.
  • Sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences.
  • Skilled in prioritizing urgent issues in conjunction with ongoing tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to self-manage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to set priorities, short or long-term goals, and implement strategies to achieve them.
  • Skilled in interacting with students, staff, and the public in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner.
  • Ability to convey technical information to a diverse population of students, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner to minimize negative impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records and maintain confidentiality.
  • Practiced in utilizing SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of how community colleges work, preferably the Colorado Community College System.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • This position is located at 9101 E. Lowry Blvd. Denver, CO 80230.
  • Periodic Denver Metro area travel to partner college campuses is required.
