Description

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Network Administrator to join our System Office Network Technologies team. We’re looking for someone who can create a good rapport with our systemwide IT staff as they assist them with their technical needs. Note: This position is funded for two years from the start date of the employee.

Examples of Duties

In this role you’ll provide technical services for students, faculty, and staff to enhance and facilitate educational activities across CCCS. You will assist in the planning, development, maintenance and enhancement of the LAN, WAN, WLAN and Unified Communication (UC) for CCCS and across the Rural College Consortium (RCC) college networks.
 

  • Work with the Network Technologies team and College IT staff on the configuration, deployment, management, monitoring and maintenance of network/system resources to ensure network availability, security and integrity. Monitor, identify, diagnose and resolve problems using network/UC troubleshooting and monitoring applications and tools.
  • Respond to College IT Directors, College IT staff inquiries, and Help Desk support tickets concerning network operation and performance issues. Diagnose network hardware and software issues. Coordinate with College IT on resolutions. Work with the Unified Communication team and assists with RCC UC system tickets.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining configurations on switches, routers, and access points appropriately during equipment installations and moves/adds/changes to the network. Perform network operating system upgrades as needed. Follow Change Review procedures when making changes to hardware, software, or system configurations.
  • Notify Network Technologies team/Manager of outages and issues. Utilize vendor support services to resolve network issues and outages. Escalate vendor tickets as needed to minimize network downtime. Meet routinely with network vendors to voice concerns and stay abreast of new technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field. Relevant education and/or experience in the appropriate technical and management areas may be considered as a substitute for formal education on a year for year basis.
  • One year of experience with Cisco network administration and support and troubleshooting hardware/software.
