The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring an Internal Auditor - Grants to join our Internal Audit team at the System Office. In this position you will monitor and review grant sub-recipients for grants administered through the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education, including the Perkins Act and the Colorado Technical Act (CTA). You will review expenditures reimbursed by the grant to determine whether they are valid expenditures of the program. You will determine the scope of the review and the applicable audit steps to perform based on grant recipient expenditures and student data submitted for reimbursement using standard audit program guides. This position researches federal, state, and CCCS policies and procedures to make determinations on allowability of costs and advises on identified compliance issues.

Duties Include:

• Conduct monitoring reviews to evaluate expenditures of Perkins and CTA dollars for allowability, adequate supporting documentation and proper approvals, following established monitoring procedures.
• Schedule and conduct entrance and exit conferences with appropriate management using a self-developed agenda based on the scope of the review. Exit conferences include reviewing findings, explaining suggested corrective action, persuading the subrecipient to act and answering follow-up questions.
• Interview school and college personnel, either in person or over the phone.
• Review supporting documentation such as invoices, purchase orders, and student records such as transcripts, to confirm accuracy and reliability of reported data.
• Document the results of each review, including preparing work papers reflecting the results of specific tests conducted in accordance with a prescribed format.
• Report on errors noted during the monitoring review by documenting them in workpapers and the summary of observations, and prepare draft recommendations and monitoring review reports, which include recommendations for correcting the condition.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
