Human Resources Specialist

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Human Resources Specialist to join our System Office. In this role you’ll be an authority in the State of Colorado Personnel System and, in particular, position classification and selection. You’ll be looked to for direction and guidance by HR professionals and managers at several of the colleges within the System and act as backup support for your colleague in assisting the System Office and remaining colleges with their Classified position management and recruitments. You will also serve as a resource to colleagues across the system with questions about personnel rules and labor relations matters for Classified employees.

Duties Include:

  • Managing classification and selection processes for State of Colorado Classified positions at assigned colleges and serving as a backup for other colleges as needed. This includes training selection committees; prioritizing, managing and administering exam activities; and ensuring validity and reliability of innovative selection processes that promote increased diversity of the workforce.
  • Support colleges in maintaining compliance with State of Colorado personnel rules, technical guidance, and labor relations agreement articles applicable to classification, selection, and appointment of Classified employees.
  • Coordinating with college HR offices and/or directly with hiring managers on classification and selection processes, keeping processes moving, and following up as needed with college staff in order to close out processes in a timely fashion.
  • Generating and evaluating EEO reporting for positions to identify potential adverse impact and adjust selection processes, as appropriate, to address.
  • Serving as a resource to the colleges within the system on labor relations and personnel rules for Classified positions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute year-for-year for the degree.
  • Two years of experience with human resources functions that includes position management/classification and selection of employees within an organization. Experience with labor relations is a plus, but not a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to quickly obtain State of Colorado certification in selection, job evaluation, and personal services. Assistance, through on the job training and learning resources, will be provided to support this requirement.
