Description

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Family Medical Leave (FML) Coordinator to join our Human Resources team and help establish a partially centralized FML management process. This is a great opportunity for someone with great organizational skills that may be newer to Human Resources and looking to expand their career with a focus on employee benefits and leave. We are looking for someone who is able to apply laws and rules and implement efficient and effective business processes. Examples of Duties

You will assist with a critical role in formalizing and administering partially centralized processes for Family and Medical Leave and the specialized leave (e.g. PFML, FMLA, FAMLI, STD, LTD) that may run concurrently or as a result of these benefits. In partnership with the Chief Human Resources Manager and CCCS Benefits Manager, you will work with the colleges to implement a consistent, best practices approach to assess employee eligibility for various leave benefits, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This position also reconciles leave in Banner (HRIS), coordinates restrictions and return to work arrangements with employees and supervisors, assists colleges with needed payroll corrections, and provides support to employees, supervisors, and HR teams across the System throughout the leave process.

  • Assist employees in navigating the various leave benefit options based on their employee type, including potential filings for Short Term Disability (STD) or Long Term Disability (LTD).
  • Work with employees to complete and collect necessary paperwork and track leave usage, communicating status with employees and notifying them when job protections are ending or when leave is running out.
  • Calculate make whole assessments and complete necessary leave adjustments in Banner and assist in coordinating payroll adjustments as needed.
  • Assist selected colleges with processing leave without pay, including support in communicating with employees, facilitating the collection of benefit payments when needed, and ensuring proper termination of benefits when appropriate.
  • Create clear and timely communication for HR offices, employees, and managers regarding leave eligibility, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for CCCS with the FAMLI division of the State and collaborate with the State to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of working with the FAMLI division.
  • Assist HR teams with addressing and resolving leave-related disputes or discrepancies, working to find mutually acceptable resolutions while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. An equivalent amount of HR experience that includes experience working with family and medical leave or leave administration will be accepted in lieu of the educational requirements.
  • One year of experience in human resources that includes familiarity with or exposure to Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or other federal or state regulated employee leave. A master’s degree with a focus in Human Resources or PHR/SHRM-CP certification may substitute for the one year of experience.
