Financial Aid Specialist

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Financial Aid Specialist to join our Financial Aid team at the System Office. In this position you’ll review financial aid applications for accuracy and compliance within the awarding of federal and state financial aid funds. You’ll also calculate Return of Title IV funds and run the automated process to batch post Satisfactory Academic Progress to student files each term. This position collaborates with the college Financial Aid Service Centers to provide the highest quality of service to students, their families, faculty, staff, and the community.

Duties Include:

  • Independently reviews student financial aid application files and documents for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance and determines if additional information is needed to process the application.
  • Serves as liaison to college Financial Aid Service Centers to facilitate communication, provides feedback on status of financial aid applications, and makes necessary corrections and subsequent packaging to award funds from various program sources including grants, loans, and work-study.
  • Independently reviews and evaluates enrollment activity to determine correct enrollment period and attendance periods on a student-by-student basis. Based on the evaluation, calculates the required Return of Title IV funds for students who do not complete the duration of their enrollment according to the last date of attendance and provide notification to Director of Financial Aid for processing at CCCS Financial Aid Service Centers.
  • Represents CCCS while serving as a functional chair in a leadership role on at least one Financial Aid committee. Advises, educates, and collaborates with Financial Aid staff throughout CCCS Colleges in the development of processes and/or policies related to compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment.
