Summary of Position

Red Rocks Community College seeks applications for a strategic, collaborative, transformative leader to serve as its next Executive Director of Human Resources. The Executive Director of Human Resources is a key institutional leader who serves as a trusted advisor and partner to drive human resources initiatives in support of the overall mission and strategic direction of Red Rocks Community College. As a direct report to the College President, the Executive Director of Human Resources serves as an executive liaison to the Colorado Community College System Human Resources, Legal Services and Payroll Management. The Executive Director of Human Resources leads the Red Rocks Community College Human Resources department and provides vision, strategic direction, and day-to-day oversight for all core HR functions.

Essential Responsibilities

Serves as a consultant and trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership in matters pertaining to organizational development, organizational restructuring, employee relations, workforce analysis, and talent management. Collaborates with college leadership in setting and implementing the college’s strategic direction and establish and maintains trusted partnerships throughout the college community. In partnership with the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, works to provide leadership in furthering the college’s efforts to promote access, diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the entire community.

Provides leadership and strategic direction to an 11-person Human Resources team, ensuring quality services, policies and programs that align with the strategic direction and operational needs of the college. Provides ongoing direction on the development of HR procedures and practices through ongoing research, professional development, and the assessment of current issues and emerging needs of practitioners for meeting future human resource requirements. Provides leadership in the development of innovative human capital management strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce and enhance the capabilities of the RRCC workforce at all levels and in all occupational groups in an increasingly competitive talent market.

Serves as the college’s compliance officer for federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as State of Colorado and State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) policies and procedures related to employment, including such things as FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA, EEO/AA, Title IX, CORA, COWINS, etc. In partnership with the Vice President for Administrative Services, ensure the college has a competitive compensation program that will assist in attracting and retaining high skilled employees. Ensure employees are paid accurately and timely. Guides the HR staff and consults with hiring managers in the best practices as related to recruitment and selection of employees which are legal and defensible.
