Job Summary Statement: The Director of the Nursing at RRCC is responsible for providing vision, direction, and oversight of the future ADN Registered Nurse (RN) Program. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for the Colorado State Board of Nursing Application and achieving accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) within a decided timeframe.
The Nursing Director is responsible for helping to develop, implement, facilitate, and monitor growth plans for the nursing program, to enhance the use of simulation through the nursing program, and to implement the College’s program to ensure student success in the areas of persistence, student retention and completion, and program growth.
Description of Position
Supervision, Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and supervision for full/part-time faculty, professional technical, and instructional staff. Evaluate and assign faculty, classified, and professional technical staff in accordance with respective plans. Make informed staffing recommendations to the Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Create, monitor and/or participate in committee work that promotes the goals of the nursing program, division, and instruction. Verify and approve employee contracts including part-time contracts and full-time overloads.
Strategic Planning and Program Development: Formulate and implement strategies for instructional delivery, marketing, technology, educational support, and other initiatives through collaborative efforts with faculty and staff, instructional departments, and other campus constituencies. Initiate and coordinate instructional teams and external groups to develop and implement program curricula and other resources needed for the nursing program.
Fiscal Management: Develop and administer program budget in collaboration with the Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs, faculty, and staff. Justify and effectively manage all appropriate operating budget categories including acquisitions, maintenance, and inventory of capital. Lead, administer and oversee grants.
Compliance and Accreditation: Develop and maintain relationships between the Nursing Program and accrediting bodies. Review accreditation standards and ensure nursing program compliance. Prepare all needed paperwork for accreditation processes and coordinate with the College accreditation liaison and Vice President of Academic Affairs for document submissions.
