Applied Technology Career Navigator

The ideal candidate must have a high level of positive energy, be a self-starter, and a team player with excellent motivation skills and the desire to excel and promote Northeastern. The preferred applicant would have a minimum of two years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, industrial equipment, power generation systems, and/or manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing and developing professional relationships.

The ATC Career Navigator will assist the Applied Technology campus students in providing direction and career advising. The position is responsible for seeking out prospective students through outreach events and activities including career fairs, military transition programs, secondary school visits, workforce events, and other recruiting opportunities. The person would provide individualized admission advising and support to the student as they begin their career at NJC. Travel inside and outside the 5 county service area is required.

The ATC Career Navigator will seek out employers for pathway programs in an effort to develop partnerships, employment opportunities, scholarships, and student sponsorships. This person will make first contact with new employers to begin a relationship with NJC and continue to foster a positive relationship with partner employers. Internships, summer employment opportunities, job shadows, apprenticeships, and full time employment opportunities will be developed with employer input.

The ATC Career Navigator will assist with the administration and implementation of any grants and other funding sources including HB21-1149 that provide resources to the Applied Technology campus.  This person will work cooperatively with other departments, programs, and services on campus to promote, market, and recruit an adequate number of students to sustain the programs.  Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Associate degree and/or certification in repair and maintenance of vehicles, industrial equipment, power generation systems, and/or manufacturing
  • Two years of industry experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel for recruitment events. This position may act as the Northeastern representative at recruitment functions or community events
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Experience in working with a diverse population
  • Excellent organizational skills, public speaking ability, verbal and written communication
  • Extensive experience with MS Office including Publisher, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

This is a full-time professional position beginning in the Fall 2022 semester.  This is a 260-day position with a salary range of $43,000-$47,000, commensurate with education and experience.  Competitive fringe benefit package available through SBCCOE.

College/Community Profile:

Northeastern Junior College, one of 13 member-colleges of the Community Colleges of Colorado, lies in the rural northeastern Colorado town of Sterling.  The community of approximately 13,000 residents enjoys easy access to Denver, the Rocky Mountains and the western-agricultural lifestyle.  Northeastern Junior College enrolls approximately 1,500 full and part-time students through a wide variety of majors in associate degree and certificate programs.  Approximately 65-70% of our students indicated they plan to transfer on to complete a four-year degree while the other 30-35% of our students pursue careers after completing an AAS degree or certificate program.  As a residential campus with six residence halls accommodating 550 students, the college attracts students from throughout Colorado, many states and several foreign countries.  Approximately 50 full-time and 30 part-time faculty comprise the teaching staff.
