Department/Division Purpose (brief description of main function):

The main function of the Office of Institutional Research is to support the college planning, decision-making, policy formulation, and accreditation processes through the application of Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. In this capacity, the Office of Institutional Research assumes primary responsibility for responding to a broad range of data requests from external or internal constituencies, preparing state and federally-mandated reports, designing and administrating surveys, conducting research projects, providing consultation for assessment/evaluation efforts, ensuring compliance with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Open Pathways, and assisting administrators, faculty, and staff in the design and implementation of a variety of data collection and analysis.

This position specifically exists to complete the various functions of institutional research, including but not limited to, data collection and analysis, survey development and administration, and internal and external reporting. Work is performed with significant independence and discretion under the supervision of the Chief Business Officer. This position extracts, transforms, analyzes, and certifies institutional data in response to internal information requests and external reporting requirements, including mandatory state and government data reporting. The position performs survey design, distribution, and analysis (when applicable), while collaborating with administrators, faculty, and staff to perform a mixture of recurring and ad hoc requests for data, information or survey feedback. This position will work in coordination with other data owners to compile and maintain accurate data to meet internal and external reporting deadlines. The position serves as the IPEDS key holder, HLC Accreditation Liaison Officer, Chair of the Institutional Review Board, and represents the institution in meetings and conferences related to institutional research, strategic planning, and accreditation.

 

Job Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Perform institutional research utilizing research methodologies in assessment, survey research, statistics, and data analysis. Prepare reports and communicate research results to college administration, faculty, and staff. Responsible for evaluating and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Prepare, collect, and interpret financial, student, faculty, course, and academic program information. Through the development and implementation of various data collection and analysis tools, this position will provide critical data such as program enrollment and course planning forecasts (includes the regular update of the IR webpages).
  • Complete state and federally mandated reports, including Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data system (IPEDS), HLC Institutional Update, Colorado Department of Higher Education, and Colorado Community College System. This position is responsible for the management of the collection and storage of institutional data used in responding to college and program accreditation requirements.
  • Serving as HLC Accreditation Liaison Officer ensuring operations and processes meet accreditation standards. Track, report, and maintain records of programmatic changes to HLC.
  • Provide support to the VPAF in the development and implementation of the college strategic plan. Track college high-level strategic initiatives, across campus units. Maintain a well-coordinated and sophisticated scorecard related to the college’s strategic plan. Perform and design ad hoc analyses for institutional decision-making purposes.
  • Author, publish, and analyze surveys for PCC stakeholders.
  • Create and manage databases
  • Learn new software as necessary and stay current with data analytic tools and development

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Provide training and guidance to Department Chairs and Faculty to support the college’s Assessment of Student Learning efforts
  • Flowchart key institutional processes

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Licenses or Certificates:

  • None

Experience:

  • Experience conducting, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting complex or large sample research data.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated skill working with a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple diverse groups to include administration, stakeholders, employees, and students.
