Department Summary: The Center for Inclusion & Diversity exists to support students in the advancement of their educational journey and their education as engaged citizens of the world. The Center for Inclusion & Diversity supports student programming and engagement in support of the college’s learning outcomes and to support the success of minoritized and historically-excluded students, The Center houses and supports the operations of the Center for Multicultural Excellence and the LGBTQ+ Center.

Job Summary: This position will coordinate and support education and engagement-centered programs and services for students through the Center for Inclusion and Diversity. The program coordinator will support communication and engagement efforts targeting underserved, minoritized, and historically excluded populations. The Center for Inclusion and Diversity Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

 

Description of Position

Coordinate and support educational and engagement-centered programs and services for students through the Center for Inclusion & Diversity

  • Plan and execute programming to address student needs around diversity, equity and inclusion. Determine needs in collaboration with ED of DEI and implement appropriate programming for students (current, potential, and alumni).
  • Provide appropriate advisement and referrals as needed to connect students with available resources and assist in their personal growth.
  • Proactively provide information on available resources; provide social support and informal (non-academic) advisement to students.
  • Work in collaboration with Marketing to develop and distribute flyers, brochures or other informational or educational documents to inform members of the targeted communities.
Supervise and mentor student employees for the Center for Inclusion & Diversity
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees for the Center for Inclusion & Diversity.
  • Update and ensure accountability for student employee guidelines.
  • Complete all student employment paperwork, approve timesheets, and ensure continuity and advancement as appropriate for student employees.
  • Identify and evaluate learning outcomes for student employees.
  • Employ strategies to create and maintain an inclusive and supportive environment for the students we serve.

Provide project support on an annual basis which reflects the current goals and directions of DEI for the college

  • In year one, this role will research and develop a framework and program materials for a mentorship program for underserved students.
  • Year-over-year project support will be determined via annual goals in consultation with the ED of DEI.

Support communication and engagement efforts targeting underserved, minoritized, and historically excluded populations

  • Serve as DEI representative on Food and Housing Insecurity Council
  • Participate in Co-Curricular Council.
  • Support email/text/calling campaigns and programming efforts to retain and re-enroll students and better understand student needs.
