Assistant Director of HR Operations
Description

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring an Assistant Director of Human Resources Operations to join our System Office. In this role you’ll assist with the day to day and strategic systemwide operations of the HR department including supporting the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) with reviewing and monitoring proposed legislation; labor management; and addressing matters associated with the State of Colorado personnel system. You’ll also assist the CHRO with employee relations matters at colleges across the system and serves as a resource for HR staff at the colleges. This position supervises three employees.

Examples of Duties

  • Serve as the project manager for functional systemwide HR initiatives where a subject matter expert does not currently exist in the HR office. Coordinate systemwide functional HR group meetings to support sharing of best practices and innovative strategies.
  • Develop and administer programs, procedures, and plans used in carrying out human resources policies and continually look for opportunities to improve systemwide HR processes.
  • Support employee engagement and retention efforts through the development and implementation of culture initiatives and career development opportunities (e.g., mentor programs, internship opportunities, leadership development, etc.).
  • Support CHRO in the review of proposed State legislation to identify potential impacts and costs and strategies on proposing revisions or opposing legislation.
  • Serve as the CCCS point of contact and subject matter expert for the State of Colorado/COWINS Labor Agreement and any future expansion of labor management within CCCS.
  • Obtain State of Colorado Personal Services Certification and serve as a resource for the colleges for reviewing and approving personal services waivers and contracts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, psychology or closely related field. A combination of education and relevant experience, in addition to that required for the position, will substitute for the degree.
  • At least two years of professional experience that includes a focus on professional development, HR operations, labor management, or HR project management. Experience must include working in a human resources office within a government or higher education institution.
