Description

Note: The standard work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., some weekends and an occasional holiday possible, along with on-call status.

Duties: This full-time position is located in the Facilities department and provides journey level electrical installation, maintenance and repairs to ensure the campus is safe, secure and fully operational. Provides electrical construction support to minor renovation and new construction projects at CCCS. Analyzes electrical equipment and circuits such as motors, magnetic starters, lighting circuits, power distribution panels, fire alarm systems, security systems, smoke detectors, electrical door openers and emergency lighting systems to determine proper operation. Troubleshoots boiler control panels and chiller control panels; replaces or repairs burned out or defective equipment; and replaces burned out lamps and ballasts.  Works with power and hand tools to repair or replace equipment, wiring, and fixtures. Assembles, installs, and tests electrical equipment, fixtures, and appliances.  Schedules and performs preventive and corrective maintenance such as cleaning and adjusting motor magnetic starters, sensors, smoke alarms, motor control circuits, lighting contactor, magnetic door alarm systems, and electric door openers. Maintains and repairs card access systems, cameras, and emergency code blue phones. Performs preventative maintenance on all types of equipment.  This includes cleaning and adjusting motor magnetic starts, sensors, smoke alarms, motor control circuits, lighting contractors, magnetic doors, HVAC systems, electrical door openers. Repairs electronic keypad for electronic doors.  Attends training to stay up to date with electrical codes, HVAC, plumbing and software.  Performs daily inspections in each building to determine if there are building issues and if so, determines the urgency of the problem. Position provides professional resources and support to supervisor by reading, designing, drawing, and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and electrical codes. Communicates information effectively orally and in writing to staff, contractors, electrical inspectors, supervisors, administrators, architects, engineers, and utilities representatives. Position assists other trades and staff with other building trades such as plumbing, carpentry and grounds as needed and requires a general knowledge of building maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:  Current, valid licensure as a Journeyman Electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board with skilled experience in the commercial or industrial electrical construction field.
