The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Director of Budgets, Planning, & Analysis to join our Finance team. We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of budgeting and finance who can work cross-functionally as a team member and leader. Examples of Duties

In this role, you will provide financial and management leadership by directing the budget, planning and analysis activity for CCCS and providing legislative and technical assistance on behalf of our colleges. You will develop, monitor, and revise budgets for all colleges in the system and the System Office. The person in this position is a primary technical and policy liaison with legislative, Department of Higher Education and System college staff. This position also directly manages two budget department employees.

Some duties of the position include

  • Developing budget formulas, predictive data models, financial forecasting and analysis, tuition/fee projections and rate recommendations, and working with the colleges’ budget staffs to prepare annual operating budgets for Board approval.
  • Serving as a technical and policy resource for college Business Officers, external stakeholders, and System Office staff related to budget and legislative finance issues. Provide technical assistance to college business officers in developing budgets, analyzing the impact of enrollments, and improving finance-related operations.
  • Developing System Office budgets, monitoring expenditures, producing budget to actual reports, maintaining vacancy savings reports, and initiating necessary cost center changes to reflect budget needs.
  • Developing and supporting System budget office staff with a focus on creating future leaders and expanding skill sets through mentorship. Coordinating colleges’ budget department personnel, acting as a leader and coalition-builder for all college budget director-level personnel and others as appropriate.
  • Assisting the System Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration on fiscal-related legislative issues and helping to implement the System’s fiscal-related legislative agenda, in cooperation with the System’s legislative coordinator and external lobbyists.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a closely related field.  A combination of education and/or progressively responsible work experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Three years of progressively responsible, professional level work experience in finance, budget planning, and/or analysis.
  • Experience with financial management tools within an Enterprise Resource Planning software product and environment.
  • Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and data mining; adept at transforming data into information.
